MONTROSE — Millington baseball continued its postseason run Wednesday night, knocking off 10th-ranked Lakers 4-0 in a Division 3 regional semifinal behind a dominant pitching performance from Brandon Dickie. The Cardinals improved to 20-13 and advanced to the regional championship game, where they will host seventh-ranked Grosse Pointe University Liggett (27-11) at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 6, at Harry Kern Field. Millington's latest postseason victory continued an impressive playoff streak. During their four-game run, the Cardinals have defeated 15th-ranked Reese (25-10-1), LakeVille, Montrose (23-5), and now 10th-ranked Lakers (31-8). For five innings, runs were hard to come by as Dickie and Lakers starter Lucas Wehner matched zeros. Millington finally broke through in the top of the fifth inning, scoring three times to seize control. The Cardinals added an insurance run in the seventh. Drake Terwilliger delivered the game's biggest offensive performance, going 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs. Lukas Henderson added an RBI single, while Dickie, Logan Myers, and Chase Milostan each contributed hits. Dickie was masterful on the mound. The junior tossed a complete-game shutout, allowing just four hits while striking out 12 and working around four walks. The Lakers managed only one extra-base hit and never advanced a runner home against the Cardinals' ace. Millington's defense was flawless behind Dickie, playing error-free baseball for the second straight postseason game and helping preserve the shutout. The victory sends the Cardinals into a regional final matchup against one of the state's premier Division 3 programs. Grosse Pointe University Liggett enters Saturday's contest ranked seventh in the state with a 27-11 record, while Millington will look to continue a postseason surge that has already produced wins over four quality opponents and a district championship. First pitch is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday in Millington, with a trip to the Division 3 quarterfinals on the line.
